Eligibility
How to Qualify
Two paths forward — receive a trained service dog, or apply for training for the dog you already have.
Criteria to receive a service dog
- U.S. military veteran with a service-connected disability (PTSD, TBI, mobility, etc.).
- Able to participate in placement and training sessions.
- Stable home environment suitable for a service dog.
- Commitment to ongoing care, vet visits, and continued training.
Criteria to train your own dog
- Your dog is between 1 and 5 years old, in good health, and current on vaccines.
- Sound temperament: calm, social, non-aggressive, food-motivated, and comfortable in public.
- You can commit to weekly training sessions and daily practice at home.
- You meet our veteran applicant criteria above.
- Initial evaluation confirms the dog's suitability for service work.
What happens after I apply?
- You submit your application online.
- A team member calls within two weeks to talk through your needs.
- We schedule an evaluation (in person or virtual).
- If approved, we begin matching you with a dog or scheduling training.
- Placement and training begin — at no cost to you.
